Vasantha Memorial Trust, a trusted name in the field of cancer care and rehabilitation, hosted the Women’s Day event at their centre at Kailas Industrial Complex on Monday, 6th March 2023.
41 women cancer survivors/patients along with guests and Trust volunteers participated in the event with all energy and enthusiasm.
The Chief Guest for the event was Dr. Wasim Phoplunkar, consultant Radiation Oncologist, Hiranandani Hospital, who shared his wisdom of words with the women. It was a motivational talk to the cancer patients attending the event, whom he advised to do away with the thought of “why me” and urged them to look forward and move on. He left the audience mesmerized with his shayaris.
As part of the Women’s Day Event, the Trust also organized an art therapy workshop.
Mrs Bhagyashree Singh, a resident of Powai conducted the workshop and taught the participants, stencil painting on denim bags. These denim bags, stitched by cancer survivors of the Rehabilitation Unit, looked more beautiful with the vibrant colours painted on them. It was a lively activity, relaxing their mind and body, filling their hearts with colours of happiness. Art therapy is a great tool indeed which helps one to interpret, resolve and express their emotions and thoughts.
The participants were gifted the bags which they painted as a take away along with a goody bag of rice, dal, chikkis and chocolates. The event ended with the serving of tea and snacks to all participants.
The Trust regularly conducts such events for cancer survivors and patients which helps boost their confidence and empowers them to find and express their hidden potential.
