In a distressing incident in Powai, a 52-year-old auto-rickshaw driver was apprehended by Unit 10 of the crime branch for molesting a 13-year-old girl while she was alone in his moving vehicle. The arrest was made possible due to crucial CCTV footage evidence.
The accused, Identified as Banshyam Soni, took advantage of the young girl’s vulnerable situation during the journey. The incident occurred in a moving auto-rickshaw, further highlighting the audacity of the crime.
Following his arrest by the crime branch, the suspect was subsequently handed over to the Powai police for further legal action. He is now facing charges under both the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the stringent Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
